Securom cracked 1 June
Mass Effect is the first EA game that has the latest Securom. This strongest version yet, the most modern and new version, has been cracked in less then 1 day...
So those who get the game illegally get no Securom and the honest people, the ones who pay for the game, get an annoying Securom program on their PC.
Hopefully EA will wise up and stop using it since this program does not work AT ALL! But that's not very likely...

Securom warning on Norwegian Simsite 4 June
Here's something funny I came across: The official Norwegian Sims site has a warning message on the FreeTime patch:

"This FreeTime patch comes with Securom. It is possible that your game won't start after installing. Download at your own risk"

Now why don't they give this warning on the Sims2.com as well...

Apartment Life fanday 4 June

Updated patch 1 July
The FreeTime patch got a small update:
- Tinkering option added for a few bathroom/kitchen objects
- Fixing a few SecuROM problems
- Added a blackfont option
- Making FreeTime compatible with the Sims Store

Sims 3 fanday 19 July
A few fansites got the opportunity to check out The Sims 3. Unfortunately, EA did not invite any English news sites so no report from me.
The big previews will arrive in a few days when the fansites have returned from the trip but there is already coming in a few tidbits of info:
- Hair will not grow but you can 'paint' certain parts of the hair.
- There is no gradual aging, but there are age groups as in Sims 2.
- There will be 7 age groups: Baby, Toddler, Child, Teenager, Young adult, Adult, Elder.
- Every career has its own building in the Nhood.
- Different Sims height is not in the game yet and unsure if it will reach the full game.
- A Mac version will be made AFTER the game is released on PC.
- The game will be released in 2009 but no specific quarter is given.
- You can move objects 360 degrees and without a grid.
- It is still not certain if weather will be in the game.
- There are several dificulty levels.
- Sims still spin around to change clothes.

New poll 4 August
There's a new poll. This weeks question is if you're disapointed that there's no gradual aging. Click here to vote: New poll.
Last poll question was what you think about the look of the sims in Sims3. Most people like how the Sims look and many who didn't like them, changed their mind after seeing the new pictures. 1 in 5 however, still don't like the Sims apearance. 5010 people voted and here are the results:

- I love how they look!: 37%
- They're ok. Nothing special: 24%
- I didn't like their look, but now I'm starting to like them: 19%
- I don't really like how they look: 14%
- The sims in Sims3 look awful!: 6%

The official sims site posted the news that coming thursday, there will be a chat about Apartment life. There are 2 chats actually so the Europeans can attend at a better time then usual. Below the times:
- 10 Am (us) - 19:00 (Europe)
- 04 Pm (us) - 01:00 (Europe)

Will Wright about Sims 3
Wright gave a big interview to News.com. He talks about Spore and The sims franchise. It's also one of the first times he's asked about Sims 3. Here's a part:

Lately on snootysims there has been much about the sims 3, and about EA's little store on site.

My thinking in this is that there is so much free clothing on the various sites, that you don't need to pay for clothing. So why bother?

New Apartments patch
TheSims2.com silently updated the Apartment Life patch. Find the long list of fixes and the download here: http://thesims2.ea.com/update/getpatch.php?appVersion=1.16&languageCode=1

As usual, I would wait until we're sure that this patch will actually do something, and not make things worse! The securom is probably still present, and this download is 91 mb!
