need help with a couple things

I hope I got this in the right place, if not feel free to move it

I really need some help in a couple different areas

first off, I ran across this site

it's called Missdingding (btw, check out the houses, they're stunning) it's all in Japanese, Chinese, something like that

I've downloaded several houses, and even though my game isn't working,( I should have my new puter by the end of next week) I checked out the content using "clean installer"

there's one building that won't unzip, and I don't know why, it's an office building #42, and I simply must have this building

since my game isn't working at the moment, could somebody check it out and tell me if the file is corrupt,

maybe it has modulair stairs and I need scriptorium, I've never used scriprorium, but house #41 has a custom fireplace, and I hear most custom fireplaces need scriptorium, but # 41 unzipps just fine

at first I thought maybe I needed to change regional and language settings to Chinese, but since all the others unzipped, I don't think that's it

I'd send them an e-mail, but everythings in chinese, and I can't even figure out how to do that

but even if you can't help. you have to check out these houses, and BTW all CC is included, and they have some really nice stuff, I am in awe of these houses, they are magnificient

the second thing is, can anyone tell me a good way to organise? since my games been broken, I've gone on a downloading spree, I used to have about 4 Gb of CC in my downloads folder, and had a hard time sorting through the stuff, well now I have 5Gb more of CC waiting to be added, that will make a total of 9Gb of CC, I'll be lost, and I figure since I'm starting fresh, with a fresh install, I may as well organise while I'm installing, could you point me to a good tutorial about folders, sub folders ,collections etc?

I'm going to be installing for a week before I even get to play

well this is wierd, for whatever reason, that package(#42) wouldn't open with "winrar" but it opened with "7zip" so hopefully when I get my game back up and comes time to install it, I'll be able to do it with 7zip.......... ever hear of anything like that before?

I think that's one of the first things I'll install when the time comes, so just in case it crashes my game for some reason, I won't loose alot of work

sounds to me like a problem with the zip file rather than the download - can you post a link to the download and i'll check it out.

it may well have been made as a .7z and then renamed .... that way 7zip would pick it up but winrar wouldn't.

I'm still happy to test it for you if you like?

Did you try using the robofilemaid 3000? I'm just curious to know if it would have worked. I am definitely going to check out that site.

If you right-click on a blank area on the site in question, you will see a scroll down area that will have 'yahoo' on it, go there and you will see 'translate' just click on that and it will bring up the site, only in english! (doesn't always work, but most of the time)

Just checked out that site---that is very very cool! Some great buildings in there! Will have to add to our growing list of downloads! Thank you for sharing with us!

thanks, I had forgotten all about Babelfish, babelfish in it's self is a different language

they were talking about a picture, it translated to "the paralysis is good", probably meant it was a good still shot

there's a message board with user created downloads, but you have to register first, I'm going to attempt that later, and see what else I can find

it's wierd that file will open with 7zip but not Winrar, hopefully it will work, I really want that office building

I talked to the sales person at Best buy today, he had never heard of SecureRom, I'm a little nervous about getting a new Vista computer, because that's what SecureRom seems to have the most problems with (I've got XP and never had a problem)

but he assured me if I install the Sims, and things go haywire, bring it back in and they'll sort it out for me

the one I was looking at has 360 Gb memory, an Nvidea 7100 video card, and 2or4 Gb of Ram (don't quote me on those specs) he said that should handle the Sims pretty well

and it's even on sale

he said they'll customize it for me and clear out the startup menu, and remove the anti virus, since SBC comes with Norton, and I know nothing about Vista, so I have to learn all over again, I started out with ME, then went to XP, now on to Vista......... Oh boy!!!

Oh BTW, I got bigfoot in my game right before it quit, so I didn't really get a chance to play him much, I cheated, and got Paladins "bigfoot in a box"

did you know Bloom made a bodyshape out of bigfoot? it's called Neanderthal, it's a little smaller than a bodybuilder, but bigger than standard Maxis, but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, I'm a big fan of all the custom bodyshapes

I had been fairly lucky, I had up to freetime, all the maxis patches, along with teenstyle, K&B and H&M, I even had a Nero burner, and I never really had too many problems

I'd get the unable to authenticate disc, or insert original CD instead of backup, but open the tray and close it again and everything would be OK

the burner still worked, I don't know about the DVD player, cause I never watch DVDs on my computer, I've got a nice DVD player for my TV and watch them on that

if I run into troubles, best buy said they'd sort it out for me, (I think I'll get that in writing) I'll just take them MATY's instructions for removing SecureRom and tell them to have at it

Yup! Best Buy never heard of it here either! I had had to take my pc into the 'geek squad' (what would we do without them?!!) And I actually had to tell them about the securom junk.....they did the scan of the pc, and found securom in it, but I had to tell them all about it (what I knew so far).

After the scan I hadn't enough money to have them get rid of it, figured 'miss smarty pants' can do it......BOY was I wrong!!! I must have missed some stuff, cos it still shows up on my registry.

My sis has Vista, not sure of all the tech stuff in there, but she has not had probs with her sims game......You would not believe how much CC she has in there, too!!! I have been struggling to keep mine below 1 gig of CC, so my pc doesn't crash on me....(just smells like it!)

Try the robofilemaid....it's on this site under hacks in the download area...you just grab and drag...see if that doesn't do it!

I've been downloading way too much stuff, but it's all so cool

that island I'm planning for my story is going to be a tropical paradise with a dark side, kind of like LOST and the Dharma innitiative meets the Sims

the coastline will be fairly normal and beautiful, but as you get into the interior of the island, there's going to be some really strange stuff

it's going to be an island off the coast of Cuba, that was used for experiments during the cold war, and was abandoned after the fall of the Soviet Union, with a few underground labs and experiments that got left behind

Starlight (the girl in my story) is a very bright girl,but a little unconventional, and in time, she'll figure out what all these experiments do, but in the beginning they will frighten her badly(don't touch anything, lets get out of here, please!!!)

I've downloaded a bunch of Star Trek stuff for the experiments, and a bunch of Silent Hill stuff to give it that eerie, run down atmosphere, along with a few celebrity sims for cameo apperances, I think Mulder and Skully would definatly be interested in this island

Hey that sounds way cool! She does look like a 'flower child' too! She's cute, and I can hardly wait to get to see this when you're done! Will it be a story for others to read, or just some good fun for you to have?

well if you look over at insim, you'll find starlight, her house, her dog, and about the first 5 chapters of the story

but I felt the subject matter was getting a little too strong for regular insim, so I moved it to the adult site

it doesn't have alot of sex or anything, but starlights a 17 year old runaway, whos mom comitted suicide in front of her when she was 5, her dad tried to molest her, she's tried to comit suicide because of it, and wound up running away when she failed, she's been on her own for 2 years, moving from place to place, trying to survuve, she's a little to trusting for her own good, but very smart, and has a touch of OCD........ she's had a hard life, she lives in a little abandoned shack in the woods behind slim's house

Slim is 42, they started out as friends, but fell in love, and except for a "lost weekend" where things went a little too far, Slim's been a complete gentleman, and waited for her to turn 18

I was a little uncomfortable writting the story, because of the age difference, but the story wouldn't have worked any other way, together they're almost invinciable, she's got the brains, Slim has the experience, together they can figure out a solution to almost any problem, and believe me, they've had plenty of problems

they make a very good pair, and love each other with all their hearts, i'm really very proud of the story, I think it's one of the most wonderful things I've ever done, despite being a little uncomfortable writting it, it's been a rollercoaster ride of unpredictability, you never know what's coming next, and I guarantee it will make you both laugh and cry, there are some very funny moments, and some very sad ones too

it's over at the adult insim site, you're welcome to read it, it has over 50 chapters and 5000 views, just look for "Starlights groovy adventures", I haven't updated it for awhile because of the crash, so it'll be a couple of pages back I imagine

this one is when Slim was thinking he might loose Starlight, it doesn't make alot of sense unless you read the story though, and don't watch the second movie, until you read the story

well I've reinstalled the sims and been building the hurricain bunker/secret lab/temple,I thought I'd post a few pics, I like building things that are different

i haven't gotten my new video card, so forgive the resolution, and I'm still not done decorating

years ago the scientist built the labs in the ruins of an old temple, once used by cannibalistic headhunters who performed human sacrafice (I still have to surround it with dense jungle)



on the first floor is living quarters, kind of a decoy for anyone who happened to stumble upon it

the communal living area is 1 floor down complete with classrooms

and sleeping area with 2 way mirror for "observation"( I still need to put some grungy sheets on the beds)



and a long spooky hallway with ductwork



below that lies the medical experements floor which will also be old and grungy, below that lies the dust free hi tech experiments, which will look shiney and new, like they just left yesterday, but those aren't done yet

BTW, there's something alive down there, I just haven't decided what it is yet, I've got several choices, but it's locked up behind a forcefield

oh and there's also a hidden staircase that leads up to a chamber directly below the stone idol, where the original inhabitants did their human sacrifices
